About these filters

Race + education covers adults 25 and older. Race + age covers ages 20–34, regardless of education. The available data does not support combining all three filters for a city.

Selecting multiple races combines those groups. “White”, “Black”, “Asian” and the other single-race options mean that race alone; people who report multiple races are in “Two or more races”. Each group includes Hispanic and non-Hispanic residents.

These are 2020–2024 ACS five-year estimates for Cincinnati. Counts and ratios have sampling uncertainty; very uncertain ratios are hidden. These tables measure sex as male or female, not gender identity.

Education uses B15002 and race-specific tables C15002A, C15002B, C15002C, C15002D, C15002E, C15002F, C15002G. Age uses B01001 and B01001A–G. Counts are added before calculating ratios; combined margins of error use the Census approximation.

Sources and limitations

The ACS pools survey responses from 2020–2024. These tables measure sex as male or female, not gender identity.

How the ratio and margins of error work

The ratio is men divided by women, multiplied by 100. A value of 105 means 105 men for every 100 women in that age group. The paired metro columns use the same calculation for Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN Metro Area.

Counts show the Census Bureau’s 90% margin of error (MOE) when available. We approximate a ratio’s MOE by combining the numerator and denominator MOEs. We hide the ratio if the denominator’s MOE is at least as large as its estimate or if the ratio’s MOE exceeds half the ratio. That 50% cutoff is this page’s display rule, not a Census Bureau standard. A dash means the ratio is unavailable or does not pass the rule.

Some Census counts are controlled to independent population totals. Following Census guidance, controlled counts contribute zero sampling MOE when we combine cells. This does not mean the population count has no uncertainty from other sources.

The source tables classify sex as male or female. They do not measure gender identity. The 2020–2024 ACS five-year estimates pool survey responses collected across those five years and are not a single-year count.

Sources and geography

Age and sex estimates come from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2020–2024 American Community Survey five-year tables. Start with Table B01001 for Cincinnati or Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN Metro Area. Race-specific estimates come from tables B01001A–I: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I. The race-table links open at Cincinnati; choose Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN Metro Area in Census for the corresponding metro tables. Never-married counts use Table B12002 for Cincinnati and for Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN Metro Area; education counts use Table B15001 for Cincinnati and for Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN Metro Area.

The regional trend uses annual population estimates, a separate series from the ACS tables above. It combines the Census Bureau Population Estimates Program’s county estimates: 2000–2010 intercensal, 2010–2020 intercensal and Vintage 2025. The county list follows the July 2023 metro definition, while source county boundaries follow their published 2010, 2020 and 2025 vintages. The graph shows one July 1 estimate per year, favoring the newer series where estimates overlap. The data table also includes April counts and older overlapping July estimates. Changes between Census releases can reflect revisions as well as population changes; the data table lists each estimate’s date and source.
